What is Fat Grafting?

Fat grafting is a method of extracting fat from areas like the abdomen or thighs using specialized tools, followed by using centrifugal technology to purify the fat and graft it into areas like the cheeks or forehead, or other areas lacking fat on the face.

For flat faces, fat grafting helps to create fullness, or it can be used to adjust deep wrinkles or sunken areas on the face.

After grafting, part of the fat will be absorbed, and the surviving fat will remain long-term. Moreover, this is a method using autologous fat cells, ensuring safety.

Fat Grafting Areas
  • Forehead

If the forehead is low or flat, fat grafting will give it a curved and fuller appearance.

  • Cheeks (Anterior Cheekbones)

If the under-eye area or cheekbones are hollow, fat grafting will add volume, giving the face a more vibrant appearance.

  • Cheeks

If the cheeks lack fat, appear flat, or even hollow, fat grafting will help make them fuller, making the face look younger.

  • Around the Nose (Laugh Lines)

If the laugh lines are deep, fat grafting will fill this area, making the face appear younger.

  • Chin

If the chin is short or the contours are unclear, fat grafting will add volume to the chin, softening the face's contours.

Implementation Method
  • 01. Fat Harvesting

Use a "Cannula," a specialized tool for fat grafting, to extract fat cells. A gentle and careful force is applied to separate and collect the fat cells without damaging them.

  • 02. Purification of Fat

The fat collected is mixed with blood, oil, and cellular debris, so it is not pure. Therefore, a filtration step is performed to clean the fat. Using centrifugal fat separation technology, the purest fat is filtered, enhancing the quality of the fat.

  • 03. Fat Injection

Special fat injection tools are used to deliver the fat into the body in the right amount.
To avoid creating an uneven face, the injection is performed gradually, starting from the fat layer under the skin, the muscle layer, and then the fascia layer, helping to increase the survival rate of the fat. If too much fat is injected, it may impede oxygen transport between cells, reducing the survival rate of the fat, so it must be done meticulously.

  • 04. Adjustment

Right after the fat injection, adjustments are made to ensure even distribution of the fat, preventing any uneven areas and creating soft facial contours.

Self-care Methods to Improve Fat Survival Rate
  • Avoid massaging or rubbing the face strongly!

After fat grafting, the face will be swollen, and you may feel lumps in the fat. Pressing or squeezing these areas could destroy the fat cells. After one week, the swelling should almost completely subside, but it will take at least two months before massaging can be performed.

  • Avoid weight loss!

Weight loss during the recovery period before the fat cells have settled can lead to significant fat cell loss. Therefore, avoid weight loss during this time.

  • Do not use alcohol, cigarettes!

Not only after fat grafting but also for all surgeries, using alcohol or tobacco can cause infections and pain. Therefore, avoid using them for at least four weeks after surgery.

What Are Stem Cells?

Stem cells are cells in their primitive form with the ability to differentiate into various types of tissues.
Depending on the condition, they will divide and create more stem cells, differentiate into tissues, organs, and move to areas of the body that are damaged to regenerate them.
In fat grafting, stem cells stimulate capillary formation, regenerate tissues, and promote cell development, helping to fill the face, improve wrinkles, and tighten the skin...

Dr.Kung performs fat harvesting from areas like the abdomen or thighs, then isolates the autologous stem cells from the fat and injects them into the body. Using stem cells taken directly from the patient's body reduces the risk of rejection and minimizes scarring by using specialized syringes, ensuring safety.

Smart Prep 2

Smart Prep 2 is a fat grafting device for stem cells that is officially certified as a safe device by the FDA in the United States.

Stem cells harvested from the patient’s body are sterilized completely before being directly injected into the body, without undergoing any culture process, ensuring greater safety by preventing infections caused by viruses or microorganisms.
